Founded in 1954 by the enterprising Mr Gangaram Singh and Mrs Gangabai, Prema Villas has been a beloved sweet shop in Madurai for over six decades. It all started with Mr Gangaram Singh who sold sweet treats and savories from a basket on the lively streets of Madurai soon blossomed into a renowned establishment. As the reputation for exceptional sweets grew, they established a permanent shop at 84 Town Hall Road, Madurai, where it continues to delight customers with its time-honored recipes and unwavering quality.

Crafting the Perfect Halwa

The art of making halwa is deeply rooted in tradition and skill. Each halwa begins with the careful selection of high-quality ingredients, followed by a meticulous cooking process that requires patience and precision. The base ingredients, whether they be grains, nuts, are slowly cooked in ghee to achieve a rich, caramelized texture. Chokkampatti Jammin’s initially brought Rajasthan soldiers to southern India, but destiny led them to a sweeter path. These soldiers soon realized their knack for creating delectable sweets, turning their newfound skill into a thriving enterprise. Their expertise flourished in cities like Batlagundu, Tirunelveli, Srivilliputhur, Thoothukudi, Nagercoil, and Tenkasi.
