Established in 1954 by the visionary duo Mr. Gangaram Singh and Ms. Gangabai, Prema Vilas has been a cherished sweet shop in Madurai for over six decades. The journey began with Mr. Gangaram Singh carrying a basket filled with sweet delicacies and savories, which he sold around the bustling streets of Madurai. As their reputation for delicious sweets grew, they set up a permanent shop at 84 Town Hall Road, Madurai, where it still stands today.

Founders’ Dedication and Early Offerings

From its humble beginnings, Prema Vilas offered a limited yet beloved selection of sweets, including the legendary wheat halwa, Mysurpa, Gundu Murukku, Laddoos, Barfi, Boondi, and Mota Mixture. These items quickly became favorites among the locals, renowned for their exceptional taste and quality.

Expansion of the Menu

As Prema Vilas flourished, the menu expanded to include a variety of additional delights such as Jangri, Milagu Sev, Carrot Halwa, Milk Halwa, Badam Halwa, Mothi Laddu, Gulab Jamun, Rasgulla, Rasmalai, and more than 50 sweets and 40 savory varieties. Each new addition maintained the shop's reputation for excellence, drawing even more sweet lovers to its doors.

Three generations have now upheld the tradition of Prema Vilas, with the third generation continuing the legacy of serving customers with the same dedication and heart as the founders.
